Manila senior Trey McCormick nailed 14-15 free throws in the fourth quarter to
lead the Lions to a come from behind 56-50 victory over Hughes Friday night at
Manila.
McCormick, who scored a game high 20 points, rallied the Lions from a 41-35
third quarter deficit to pull out the win. Manila held a 26-23 halftime edge but
watched the Blue Devils outscore the Lions 18-9 in the third period to take a
six point lead into the final frame.
Sophomore Blake Wheeler drilled four three pointers to add 17 points for the
Lions while senior Ross Malloy also hit double digits scoring 10 points, as
Manila improved to 7-15 overall and 6-10 in 3A-3 conference play.
Hughes won a thrilling 43-41 victory over Manila in junior high action.
The Senior Lions will close the regular season with a pair of non-conference
games, hosting Rector Monday night before traveling to Lake City to take on
Riverside Tuesday night.
The Junior Lions will begin play in the 2A-3 District Tournament Feb. 4-8.
