Hannah Parsley poured in a game high 26 points to lead Rector to a 57-50 victory over Buffalo Island Central in 2A-3 conference action Thursday night at Rector. The Lady Cougars drilled six three pointers on the night and hit 16-22 free throws in picking up the key conference victory over BIC.
The Lady Mustangs (23-7, 12-2) still hold a one game lead in 2A-3 conference play heading into the final two weeks of the regular season.
Rector held an 18-15 edge after the first period and took a 28-22 lead into the dressing room at intermission. Rector held a 35-31 advantage heading into the final quarter. The Lady Cougars also got double digit scoring from Hillary Calhoun who finished with 11 points. Allison Smart drilled three treys and finished with nine points while Amber Haynes and Rachel Gibson tallied four points apiece. Sarah Fannin added three to round out the Cougar scoring attack.
Jessica Shepard led BIC with 18 points while Sammi Fowler poured in 15 more, including three treys. Chelsie Nix tallied eight points, Jordin Miller scored seven, while Lauryn Smith added two to round out the Mustang scoring. BIC finished 10-16 from the foul line and hit four three pointers on the night.
BIC began the week traveling to Bald Knob, where they dropped a 49-41 decision. Brittany Fulks scored 15 points while Chelsea Kyle added 11 more to lead the Lady Bulldogs. Bald Knob held a 12-9 advantage after the first quarter and a 19-17 edge at the half. The Lady Bulldogs stretched their margin to 31-21 after three periods.
Jessica Shepard led all scorers with a game high 23 points for BIC while Sammi Fowler also hit double digits with 12 points. Jordin Miller scored five while Lauryn Smith added one to round out the Lady Mustang attack. BIC finished 11-15 from the foul line and made four three pointers while Bald Knob connected on 9-21 from the charity stripe while tallying four treys.
In junior high action, BIC improved to 22-3 overall and 12-2 in league play with a 54-38 victory over Rector. Brittany Fowler and Demi Hargrove led the Mustangs with 15 points apiece while Taylor Owens added 12. Jenna Pike had eight while Kalee James and Jacey Sneed added two points apiece.
BIC jumped to a 17-5 first period lead and led 27-11 at the half. The Lady Mustangs took a 38-22 lead into the final quarter.
Allison Duncan led Rector with 12 points.
BIC will return to action Tuesday night when they travel to Turrell to take on the Lady Rockets. The Lady Mustangs will close the week hosting Earle Thursday night at the Monette Athletic Complex.
