Manila dropped a pair of 3A-3 conference games in senior girls basketball action last week. The Lady Lions traveled to Corning Monday night and came up short in a 73-70 loss before bowing to Hoxie 67-59 Thursday night at Manila.

Sophomore Kimberly Wise poured in a game high 35 points, but it wasn't enough as the Lady Bobcats came away with a three point victory. Rebekah White also hit double digits, scoring 20 points.Colleen Kemp pitched in nine, Kristen Painter had three, Heather Dozhier netted two while Kelce Misner added one to round out the Manila scoring.

Felicia Woodard scored 23 points while Chelsea Carpenter added 21. Whitney Groning also hit double digits for the Lady Bobcats, scoring 17. Corning held a 16-13 edge after the first period and took a 33-27 lead into the dressing room at the half. The Lady Bobcats held a slim 49-47 advantage heading into the final period.

Megan Black scored 26 points to lead four Hoxie players in double figures in the Lady Bobcat's victory over Manila Thursday night. Jessica Barber scored 13 while Brooke French and Ashley Glenn added 11 and 10 points respectively. Hoxie finished 17-26 from the foul line.

Manila also placed four players in double figures, led by Kimberly Wise who scored 20 points. Colleen Kemp finished with 14 points and nine assists while Rebekah White tallied 12 and Kelce Misner added 11. Kristen Painter chipped in two points for the Lady Lions who hit 13-15 free throws.

Manila took a 17-12 lead after the first period before Hoxie rallied to take a 24-23 lead at the half. The Lady Bobcats stretched their advantage to 44-33 heading into the final frame.

In junior high action, Corning defeated Manila 42-13 before Hoxie downed the Lady Lions 41-14.

Brittany Craine and Dina Aguilar led Manila with four points apiece in the Lady Lion's loss to Corning. Courtney Craine scored two while Jordan Robertson and Shelby Wallace added one point apiece.

Peyton Joyner led Manila against Hoxie with five points. Brittany Craine scored three while Courtney Craine, Lindsey Green and Taylor Bishop added two points apiece.

Manila will return to action Monday night when they travel to East Poinsett County. The Lady Lions will close the week with another road trip to Piggott to take on the Lady Mohawks.
