Hoxie outscored Manila 36-10 in the second half en route to a 66-39 victory over the Lions Tuesday night in 3A-3 conference action at Manila.
Ray Volner scored 14 of his game high 17 points in the third quarter as the Mustangs stretched a 30-22 halftime lead to 50-29 by the end of the third period. Justin Weitkamp chipped in 10 more for the Mustangs, who improved to 9-1 overall and 7-0 in league play.
Sophomore Blake Wheeler led Manila (6-6, 5-3 3A-3) with 10 points while Chad Nunnally tallied eight. Jonathan Rose and Cody Webb netted six points apiece while Trey McCormick added five. Ross Malloy and Luke McLaughlin rounded out the Lion scoring with two points each. Manila connected on 7-13 from the foul stripe and hit two three pointers.
Hoxie hit 15-21 from the free throw line and connected for three treys on the night.
In junior high action, Kam Ashabranner scored 13 points while three other Lions combined for 24 points in Manila's 50-39 win over the Mustangs. Garrett Scott, Jeremy Goff and Levi Wallace all added eight points each while Tracey Reinhart pitched in seven. Dillon Burrow and Zach Day tallied three points apiece.
The Lions were 2-4 from the foul line and hit four treys.
