Jordan Griggs scorched the nets for 18 points to help BIC down Turrell 49-42 Friday night in 2A-3 conference action at Monette.

BIC (8-7, 3-4) held a 13-3 lead after the first period and stretched their advantage to

27-15 at the half. The two teams played on even terms in the third period and BIC went into the final frame with a 39-27 advantage.

Senior Trevor Matheny and sophomore Matt Taylor chipped in nine points apiece to aid in the Mustang victory.

Rector put five players in double figures to defeat the Mustangs Tuesday night, despite Trevor Matheny's game high 29 points.

The Cougars got 22 points from Jackie Graham to improve to 6-5 overall and 2-2 in league play. Justin Duke chipped in 19 points while Derek Wyss completed a double-double, scoring 16 points while grabbing 11 rebounds. Blake McCarroll and Garrett Evers tallied 10 points apiece.

Shane Barnes aided the Mustang cause, scoring 16 points.

In junior high action, Turrell came away with a 48-39 victory over BIC behind Warren Boyd's 16 points.

BIC was led by James Tate who scored 12 points while Dillon Hargrove added 11.

Sammi Fowler burned the nets for 30 points to help lead the Lady Mustangs past Rector 58-51 Monday night at the Mustang Athletic Complex. Fowler drilled 17-19 from the foul line and also plucked eight boards.

Senior guard Jessica Shepard contributed 21 points, including a 10-12 performance from the charity stripe.

The Lady Mustangs finished the night 29-35 from the free throw line. BIC drilled 13-14 foul shots in the fourth quarter, sealing the win.

Hannah Parsley scored 17 points, Hillary Calhoun netted 15 while Allison Smart tallied 10 to lead the Lady Cougars, who fell to 8-5 overall and 3-3 in league play.

The Lady Mustangs remained unbeaten in 2A-3 conference play with a 71-55 victory Thursday night over Turrell.

BIC, 16-3 overall, got 30 points from Jessica Shepard while Sammi Fowler chipped in 15 more, as the Lady Mustangs remained atop the conference standings.

The junior Lady Mustangs also remained undefeated in conference action, posting victories over both Rector and Turrell.

BIC defeated Rector 38-37 as Jenna Pike and Taylor Owens scored 11 and 10 points respectively.

BIC (15-1, 8-0) rolled over Turrell 55-33 behind Owens' 12 points.

BIC will travel to Earle Tuesday night as both the junior and senior boys and girls teams will take on the Bulldogs.

The senior boys will open NEA Tournament play Friday afternoon at 1:30 against Sloan Hendrix, while the Lady Mustangs will open tournament play as the top seed in A-AA division Saturday night at 7:30. The Lady Mustangs will play the winner of the Marked Tree-McCrory contest.
