The Lake City council met Nov. 19 and passed two ordinances and approved employee pay increases.

The council passed Ordinance 226-07 which regulates the use of metal storage containers and provides a penalty if found in violation. They also passed Ordinance 227-07, which supports the adoption of the Arkansas Diamond Deferred Compensation Plan for the city.

Across the board raises for city employees included an increase of 40 cents per hour. For those wishing to participate, 18 cents will be put into a retirement account for each employee. The motion passed 5-1 with alderman Mark Mann voting against.

Salaries for Mayor Bill Anderson and City Clerk Linda Simpson were tabled until a meeting in early December.

Ladd Farms was granted permission to spot level land belonging to the city, as needed, with the city paying any cost incurred.

Mayor Anderson discussed purchasing a new tractor on a lease to own contract. Advertising for bids on the John Deere tractor, with a three-year contract, will be placed in newspapers.

The next regularly scheduled council meeting will be 6:30 p.m. Dec. 17 at city hall.
