Trey McCormick drilled four three pointers on his way to a game high 19 points to lead Manila to a 41-31 3A-3 conference victory over Harrisburg Monday night at Manila.
The Lions took a 12-8 lead after the first period and stretched their margin to 19-14 by the half. The Hornets battled back to cut the Lion lead to 27-25 entering the final frame, but Manila outscored Harrisburg 14-6 in the final period to secure the win.
Blake Wheeler and Jonathan Rose chipped in seven points apiece. Ross Malloy scored four, Frankie Cowgill had three while Chad Nunnally added one to round out the Lion attack. Manila hit 12-21 from the foul line and nailed seven three pointers on the night.
Evan Moore led Harrisburg with 11 points. The Hornets finished just 4-12 from the charity stripe and made one three pointer.
The victory improves the Manila's record to 4-2 overall and 2-1 in league play.
In junior high action, Manila rolled to a 54-36 win over the junior Hornets behind Garrett Scott's game high 23 points. Kam Ashabranner also hit double digits for the Lions, scoring 15 points.
Manila bolted to a 17-4 lead after the first quarter and led 32-11 at the half. The Lions took a 49-23 advantage into the final frame.
Tracey Reinhart scored five points and dished out six assists while Brent Ray also chipped in five points. Jeremy Goff and Levi Wallace added two points apiece while Jordan Towell and Zack Day netted one point each. The Lions finished 7-17 from the charity stripe and hit three treys.
Zach Davis paced Harrisburg with 17 points. The Hornets went 5-12 from the free throw line and also made three treys on the night.
Manila took the Thanksgiving holiday off and will return to action Tuesday night when they host Armorel in non-conference action. The Lions will travel to Corning Friday night to take on the Bobcats in a 3A-3 conference tilt.
