Manila Lions welcomed new member Dwight Booth at the Wednesday meeting.

Lion President Wendell Poteet welcomed Mr. Booth, Manila High School teacher. Booth will serve as the new liaison officer for the Leo Club. The newly formed Leo Club is open to Manila High School students.

"We presently have 21 students signed up for the Leo Club and the number could go as high as 40," Poteet said. "I am impressed with the program and excited to get it started. I think it will be great for the young people and great for the future of Manila Lions Club."

Poteet said members of the Leo Club will meet with the Lions on Wednesday, Nov. 28.

Lions discussed the annual pancake supper scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 1. Tracey Reinhart will serve as chairman for the pancake supper.

Lion Tom Jaco said the Christmas bell ringing will begin and asked for volunteers from the Lions Club.

Lion Max Schrader discussed sponsoring a Christmas decoration contest for Manila residents.

"People do a fantastic job decorating their homes for the holiday," Schrader said. "Let's recognize them for their efforts."

Schrader said he would get judges for the competition. Lion members will ask area businesses to help with prizes for the winners.

President Poteet reminded members there would be no meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 21, due to Thanksgiving Week. Meetings will resume on Nov. 28, when final plans for the pancake supper will be made.
