Riverside School board fills vacancies

Riverside School directors met in short session Monday evening, Nov. 5, at Caraway to appoint representatives, fill faculty position and approve student transfer.

Lynn Cooper, LEA supervisor of the Craighead County Special Education Cooperative, was chosen as the program leader for implementation of a surrogate parent program for the Riverside district.

Approval was given to adopt regulations for the district, which included Special Education and Related Services Procedural Requirements and Program Standards 2000 and Special Education Eligibility Criteria and Program Guidelines for Children and Disabilities, Ages 3-21, 2000, and subsequent rules and regulations adopted by the State Board of Education.

Pat McCormick was hired as full-time nurse for the East campuses. She had previously served as part-time nurse and part-time aide at East Elementary in Caraway. A new aide position will be filled as soon as possible.

The board approved the transfer of Michael Pigenn from BIC district to the Riverside district.

Katie Sanderson was granted permission to donate her sick days to niece Casey Sanderson.

Superintendent Tommy Knight reviewed dates and times for upcoming in-service meetings for board members.
