Buffalo Island veterans were honored on Thursday, Nov. 8, at Buffalo Island Central High School in a special Veteran's Day recognition program held in the Mustang Athletic Complex in Monette.
Student Council President Haley Smith presided over the festivities and welcomed the veterans, their families and students to the special tribute.
Craighead County Veterans Monument Foundation President Ted Pylant, of Jonesboro, expressed his deep appreciation for the veterans who had served so gallantly past and present, and asked each of the more than 20 veterans present to step up to the microphone and introduce themselves.
Featured speakers for the afternoon program included Eddie Dunigan, Sergeant Mason, and Ronnie Taylor.
Members of the Monette American Legion Post presented the colors and led the group in the pledge of allegiance. They included Bob Blankenship, Robin Ashley, Robert Chambers, and Larry Drummond.
