Lady Rebels drop pair of matches

Riverside's Lady netters dropped a pair of conference matches to Ridgefield Christian, losing 3-2 Monday afternoon at Lake City and 4-2 Friday afternoon at Allen Park in Jonesboro. The Lady Rebels also played a pair of doubles matches with Weiner on Friday afternoon, gaining a split.

In Monday afternoon's match with Ridgefield Christian, the Lady Eagles won both singles matches as Katie Gillespie dropped Lady Rebel Morgan Emery, 6-2, and Brittany Johns defeated Riverside's Katey Campbell, 6-1. In doubles action, Riverside took two of three matches as Emery and Campbell defeated Bonnie Argo and Karista Passmore,

6-2, at number one doubles, while the Rebel pair of Christy Ward and Kyley Campbell defeated Ridgefield's Becca Hoggard and Natalie George, 6-2. Ridgefield Christian's Kristen Haynes and Rachel Ricca defeated Riverside's Kailey Holt and Holly Dudley,

6-4, to give the Lady Eagles the team victory.

In Friday afternoon's rematch with Ridgefield Christian, the Lady Eagles took two of three matches in both singles and doubles play to earn the win. Taylor Boness gained Riverside's only win in singles play, defeating Ridgefield's Hope Childers, 6-1, at number three singles. Ridgefield gained wins at number one and number two singles play, as Katie Gillespie shut out Christy Ward, 6-0, and Brittany Johns downed Kailey Holt, 6-3. Riverside's Morgan Emery and Katey Campbell gained a 6-2 win at number one doubles, defeating Bonnie Argo and Karista Passmore, 6-2. Ridgefield bounced back to win the number two and three doubles matches as Ricca and Haynes outlasted Riverside's Taylor Boness and Holly Dudley, 6-4, while Hoggard and George shut out the Rebel pair of Kyley Campbell and Sarah Douglas, 6-0.

Riverside battled Weiner to a 1-1 split in doubles action when Katey Campbell and Morgan Emery upended Lady Cardinals Mallory Jordan and McKenzie Bartholomew,

6-1. Weiner came back at number two doubles with a 6-3 victory when Bartholomew and Bailey Nicholson downed Lady Rebels Kyley Campbell and Sarah Douglas.

Riverside finishes the regular season with a 5-3-3 record and will begin District Tournament play Wednesday morning at Allen Park in Jonesboro. Morgan Emery and Katey Campbell will enter the tournament as the number one seed on the doubles side.
