Rebels gear up for District tennis tournament

Riverside geared up for this week's District Tournament Championships, going 2-0-1 for the week in senior boy's tennis action. The Rebels defeated Ridgefield Christian 4-0 Monday afternoon at Lake City. Riverside played a tri-team match Friday afternoon in Jonesboro, defeating Weiner 5-0 while splitting with Ridgefield Christian 2-2, remaining unbeaten on the season with a 10-0-2 slate.
In Monday's action, Riverside swept both the singles and doubles matches. Cameron Casey defeated Adam Morgan, 6-4, while Daniel McCormick whitewashed Derek Reed, 6-0, in singles play. The number one doubles team of Casey Hook and Glen Graham remained undefeated on the year with a 6-1 victory over the duo of Morgan and Reed. Cody Richardson and Garrett Weaver completed the sweep with an identical 6-1 win over Stephen Smith and Reece Thrasher.
In Friday's play, Riverside rolled past Weiner, sweeping all three singles and both doubles matches. Daniel McCormick dropped Weiner's Beau Smith, 6-3, at number one singles. Bryan Poe defeated Dustin Bishop at the number two slot, 6-1, and Chase Nichols beat Ross Phillips, 6-2, at the number three position. Riverside's number one doubles team of Casey Hook and Glen Graham shut out the Cardinal duo of Aaron Riley and Chism Flemon, 6-0. Cody Richardson and Garrett Weaver completed the sweep with a 6-3 win over Riley and Flemon at number two doubles.
Riverside took care of Ridgefield in both doubles matches when Casey Hook and Glen Graham downed Nick Pechilis and Derek Reed, 6-0, while Cody Richardson and Garrett Weaver dropped the duo of Stephen Smith and Reece Thrasher, 6-1. Ridgefield bounced back in singles play to earn a split on the day as Adam Morgan defeated Riverside's Nick Bagley, 6-2, before Reece Thrasher downed Cam Casey, 6-3.
Riverside will open District Tournament play Wednesday morning at Allen Park in Jonesboro. The Rebel team of Hook and Graham earned the number one seed on the doubles side while Riverside's Richardson and Weaver picked up the number two seed. Cam Casey gained a number three seed in singles play for the Rebels.
