Ruth Pauline Smith, 85 of Leachville, formerly of Blytheville, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007, at NEA Medical Center in Jonesboro. She was the widow of E.E. "Ed" Smith and had been a Leachville resident since 1996. Born at Sawyer, Okla., she was the daughter of the late George and Lou Rilla Brumfield. She and her husband owned and operated the Smith Awning and Upholstery Company in Blytheville for many years. Following their retirement they enjoyed several years of travel and camping. Most of their trips included some or all of the grandchildren which has left beautiful memories. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Leachville First Baptist Church and the Lois Sunday School Class.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Edna Ruth and J.L. Smith of Conyers, Ga.; her son and daughter-in-law, Earl and Martha Jo Smith of Leachville; five grandchildren, Jimmy Smith of Conyers, Ga., Brian Smith of Ft. Smith; Kimberly Williams of Atlanta, Ga., Greg Smith of Jonesboro, Jay Smith of Conyers, Ga.; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Friday at Howard Funeral Chapel in Leachville with Rev. William Piercy officiating. Burial was in the Leachville Cemetery.
Grandsons served as pallbearers including great-grandsons Andy Smith and Matt Smith.
