Riverside netters remain undefeated

Riverside continued to solidify their position as one of the top tennis programs in the state with two more wins last week. The unbeaten Rebels traveled to Trumann Monday afternoon and came away with a hard fought 6-4 win over the Wildcats. Riverside completed their sweep with a 5-1 victory over conference foe Crowley's Ridge Academy on Tuesday to improve to 5-0 on the season.

The Lady Rebels also remained undefeated with a 3-2 victory over the Lady Falcons to up their record to 3-0-1 on the year.

In Monday's match against non-conference opponent Trumann, the Rebels took three out of four in doubles play, after the two teams split the six singles matches, to come away with a 6-4 team victory.

Cody Richardson and Garrett Weaver teamed up at number one doubles to post a 6-1 win over T.J. Moye and Jacque Tyler. Cameron Casey and Bryan Poe joined forces to shut out the Wildcat duo of Trevor Blasingame and Logan Schmidt, 6-0. Nathan Eldridge paired with Travis Mays to clinch the Rebel victory with a 6-1 win over Blasingame and Moye at number three doubles. Trumann salvaged the number four doubles match as Moye and Blasingame came away with a 6-3 decision over Casey and Nick Bagley.

Riverside picked up a pair of shut outs at the number one and two positions in singles play with Casey Hook and Glen Graham both posting 6-0 victories. Hook downed Blasingame while Graham knocked off Moye. Riverside's other victory in singles play came at the number four position as sophomore Daniel McCormick got by Schmidt, 6-4.

The Wildcats picked up a win at number three singles when Jacque Tyler defeated Nick Bagley, 6-3. Trumann's Moye defeated Chase Nichols, 6-2, at number five singles while Schmidt defeated Poe in a hard fought 7-5 match.

In Tuesday's conference victory over defending state champion Crowley's Ridge Academy, the Rebels rolled to a 5-1 team win with the help of a clean sweep in doubles action.

Riverside's number one doubles team of Casey Hook and Glen Graham upended the Falcon's Kade Dickerson and Jake Wallis, 6-1. The Rebel pair of Cody Richardson and Garrett Weaver whitewashed CRA's Jeremy Smith and Kyle Rowe at number two doubles, 6-0. Bryan Poe and Chase Nichols completed the doubles sweep with a 6-1 win at the number three spot over Barrett Smith and David Ramsey.

Riverside took two of the three singles matches, led by Casey Hook's 6-2 win over Falcon Jonathan Huggins at number one singles. Cameron Casey picked up a 6-4 win at the number three spot over Falcon Jeremy Smith. CRA got their only win of the day when Jake Wallis edged Nick Bagley, 6-4, at number two singles.

The Lady Rebels improved to 3-0-1 with a tough 3-2 win over the Lady Falcons.

Riverside won two of three singles matches before splitting with CRA in doubles play.

Morgan Emery defeated Hannah Stidman, 6-3, at number two singles, while Kyley Campbell upended Deidra Fears, 6-2, at the number three spot. CRA came away with a win at number one singles when Melissa Sellars defeated Katey Campbell, 6-1.

Katey Campbell and Morgan Emery teamed to defeat the Lady Falcon duo of Lauren Hill and Hannah Stidman, 6-1, at number one doubles. CRA gained a split in doubles action when Melissa Sellars and Deidra Fears outlasted the Riverside tandem of Kailey Holt and Holly Dudley, 6-3.

Both Riverside teams will resumed action with a busy week of play beginning Monday, when they hosted East Poinsett County at Lake City. The Rebels will also host Trumann in a 4:00 match-up on Tuesday before traveling to Westside to play the Warriors on Wednesday. Riverside will close out the week on Thursday when they travel to Walnut Ridge to take on the Bobcats.
