Thursday, June 21, 2007

Judge Stephan Keating was recently elected District 3 director of the Missouri Municipal and Associate Circuit Judges Association.

Keating's new duties as a member of the board include representing District 3, consisting of 20 Missouri counties with 85 cities with courts.

Keating was elected to the position at the 2007 annual Conference of the Missouri Municipal and Associate Circuit Judges Association held at the Lake of the Ozarks. Judge Keating, who resides in Steele, is the Municipal Judge for the cities of Steele, Cooter, Hayti Heights and Wardell, Mo.

He is also the owner of Faith Funeral Services in Manila and Bradford. He was the former manager of Roller Funeral Homes in Osceola.

As a part of the state judiciary, a municipal judge is required to keep abreast of developments in the law and judicial matters. Attendance at the three day annual conference fulfills a significant part of that requirement.

The Missouri Municipal and Associate Circuit Judges Association is composed of municipal judges and associate circuit judges presiding over municipal and associate circuit courts in the state of Missouri. The purpose of the association is to assist and train its members to better perform their duties as judges, and to maintain the highest possible judicial standards in the courts. The association was founded in 1965 and has grown from a small group of 12 to over 300 members.
