Lady Rebels claim 2A-3 Conference track championship

Riverside is only in their second year of track and field competition, but the Rebels are quickly becoming a force in the 2A-3 Conference. Led by sophomore Kailey Holt, who took home top honors as the high point individual champion, the senior Lady Rebels captured the conference crown, scoring a meet high 131 points May 10th at Paragould.

Holt jumped 27 feet four inches in winning the triple jump and also picked up a first place finish in the 1600 meter run with a time of 7:01:09. Riverside also picked up first place finishes when Brianna Driver claimed the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 1:02:21 while Christy Ward took home the 3200 meter championship with a time of 15:57.

Holt also placed second in both the high jump and the 800 meter run as well as grabbing a third place finish in the 110 meter hurdles while finishing fourth in the long jump. Driver picked up a second place finish in the shot put with a throw of 29 feet eight inches along with a fourth place finish in the 110 meter hurdles and a sixth place finish in the long jump. Morgan Emery finished runner-up to her teammate Holt in the 1600 meter run while the Lady Rebel's 3200 meter relay team of Emery, Ward, Katey Campbell and Michelle Cobb finished second to Crowley's Ridge Academy with a time of 12:53. The Lady Falcons took top honors with a time of 12:04.

Holly Dudley finished third in the triple jump with a leap of 25 feet 1 inches and picked up a fourth place finish in the 400 meters. Campbell grabbed a pair of fourth place finishes in the discus and the 110 meter hurdles. Riverside's 400 meter relay team of Emery, Ward, Campbell and Cobb finished third.

The senior boys finished third behind meet champion Earle and runner-up Crowley's Ridge Academy.

Cody Richardson paced the Rebels, winning the 800 meters with a time of 52:94. Riverside also picked up points when Glen Graham finished third in the shot put with a throw of 37-2. Jordan Adcock came home third in the 3200 meters with a time of 13:10:05. The Rebels got third place finishes in both the 1600 and 3200 meter relays. The 1600 relay team of Garrett Weaver, Travis Mays, Cameron Casey and Derek McCormick ran a time of 4:25 while the 3200 meter relay team consisting of Adcock, Weaver, Richardson and Casey Hook posted a time of 9:47.

Shawn Mathews placed fourth in the 110 meter hurdles. Richardson finished fifth in the triple jump while Graham and Casey posted fifth place finishes in the discus and 400 meters respectively. Richardson also finished sixth in the long jump while Casey and Mays got sixth place finishes in the high jump and discus.
