Manila won three of four games last week to improve to 5-2 overall and a perfect 3-0 in 3A-3 conference play. Manila began the week with a 4-1 win over Marked Tree on Monday. The Lions out-slugged Black Rock 16-8 Tuesday afternoon and whipped Hoxie 13-0 Thursday afternoon on the road. The Lions closed the week dropping an 8-2 decision to Rivercrest.

In the Manila win over Marked Tree, Frankie Cowgill, Kyle Evans and Chad Nunnally had two hits apiece. Cowgill had a double, scored a run and stole two bases. Evans scored a run and had an RBI while Nunnally crossed the plate one time. Jace Elkins had a double and drove in two runs, Michael Shedd doubled, scored one run and stole a base while Zach Birmingham and Jacob Britt had one hit apiece.

Michael Shedd went the distance to pick up the win. Shedd struck out five and walked four while giving up only two hits and one run.

In Manila's victory over Black Rock, Chad Nunnally socked two home runs and drove in five runs to lead the Lion attack. Nunnally also rapped a double to finish with three hits on the day while scoring three times with one stolen base. Jace Elkins also had three hits, scored three times and stole three bases. Ross Malloy went 2-4 with three RBIs, two runs scored and a pair of stolen bases. Luke McLaughlin went 2-3 with two RBIs, two runs scored and a couple of stolen bases. Kyle Evans had a pair of hits and scored twice while Jacob Britt went 2-5 with a stolen base and a run scored. Freshman Zach Birmingham doubled and drove in two runs. Frankie Cowgill drove in a run and scored once while Michael Shedd scored a run and stole two bases.

Blake Wheeler pitched four and 2/3 innings to pick up the win. Wheeler fanned 10 Zebras.

Black Rock got a pair of three run homers from Matt Chadwick and Mitchell Thompson. The Zebras dropped to 1-3 on the year.

Chad Nunnally threw a no-hitter while striking out six in the Lion's whitewash of Hoxie. Frankie Cowgill led the Lions at the plate going 4-4 with a double, three RBIs and four stolen bases. Cowgill also scored a pair of runs. Jace Elkins went 3-4 including a double, had two RBIs, two stolen bases and three runs scored. Nunnally was 3-3 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored. Luke McLaughlin had a pair of hits, an RBI and a run scored. Ross Malloy was 2--4 with an RBI and a double. Kyle Evans went 2-3 with a double and two runs scored. Jacob Britt doubled, scored a run and stole two bases while Zach Birmingham scored a run and stole a base.

The Lions will return to action Monday when they travel to Westside before hitting the road for a conference game Tuesday afternoon at Corning. Manila will close out the week hosting Armorel Thursday afternoon at 4:00.
