Jr. Mustangs defeat CRA, Lady Mustangs fall to Turrell

Buffalo Island Central defeated Crowley's Ridge Academy in the first round of the 2A-3 Junior District Tournament at Monette last week, while the Junior Lady Mustangs fell in their first round game to third seeded Turrell.

BIC defeated the Falcons 41-18, as Brandon Atkeison scored 12 points to lead the Mustangs. Heath Hawkins netted seven, Ben Cole tallied six, Matt Taylor and Jeremy Smith scored five points apiece, Dalton Womack added four points while Adrian Mondragon contributed two points to round out the Mustang scoring attack.

BIC led 10-0 after the first quarter, 25-4 at the half, and 34-15 after three periods of play. The Mustangs were 5-8 from the charity stripe and hit six treys.

Lucas Horn led CRA with 10 points. The Falcons were 1-4 from the foul stripe and hit two treys on the night.

Turrell ended the Lady Mustangs' season, defeating BIC 28-14 on Tuesday night in first round action of the 2A-3 Junior District Tournament. Erica Chance led the Lady Rockets with a game high 19 points.

Jenna Pike led BIC with seven points. Ashley Jines scored two, while Rhonda Garrett and Whitley Rolland scored one point apiece.

Turrell led 7-3 after the first period, 15-6 at the half and 23-7 after three quarters.
