Mary Alice Miller, 85, of Jonesboro died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007, at Skillcare Nursing Home. Born in Jonesboro on Nov. 18, 1921, she was a graduate of Arkansas State University. She worked for the U.S. government in Denver before coming back to the Jonesboro area where she was an elementary school teacher for the Nettleton schools. She was a member of Nettleton United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Pearl Miller, and a brother, J.C. "Cap" Miller.
Survivors include several cousins, Martha Tyner of Paragould, Rufus Stidman of Jonesboro, Dale Stidman of Paragould, Joyce Miller Read of Monette, Sammie Walker of Forrest Grove, Ore., Jean Barmer of Memphis and friend and caregiver Shirley Marlow.
A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Friday in Nettleton Cemetery with Jimmy Young officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
