Ramona Jean Bruins, 48, of Nelson, Ill., died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007, at CGH Medical Center after a lifelong battle with heart problems. Mrs. Bruins was born Ramona Jean "Monie" Stallings on Aug. 27, 1958, in Allegan, Mich., the daughter of Harold G. Stallings and Shelby Hitt. She worked at Wahl Clipper, Sterling, for several years and of late, was working in food service for the schools.
Survivors include her husband, Dennis J. "Breez" Bruins, whom she married on May 15, 1993, in Nelson; two sons, Michael (Tracy) Watson of Glenn Heights, Texas, and Dennis J. Bruins Jr. of Rock Falls; three daughters, Windy Bruins, Heather Bruins and Denise Bruins, all of Rock Falls; eight grandchildren, Tristin, Tyson and Kiley Watson, Aubry and Audry Gordon and Sara, Shea and Jackson Marks; her mother, Shelby Hitt of Fort Smith; her father and step-mother, Harold and Stella Stallings of Manila; a sister, Peggy Fowler of Manila; and a brother, Harold Gregory and wife Karen Stallings of Manila.
She was preceded in death by a brother, David Allen Stallings and a sister, Jeanetta Stallings.
The funeral was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls with Rev. Scott Porter officiating. Burial was in Nelson Cemetery.
