Buffalo Island Central claimed a share of the 2A-3 conference championship with a convincing 66-39 victory Saturday night at Earle.
Sammi Fowler scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Lady Mustangs, who improved to 23-6 overall and 14-2 in league play.
Kasey Garrett scored 13 points while Ashley Tate added 10 points and eight rebounds.
The Lady Mustangs started the week with a 71-40 thrashing of Turrell Tuesday night at Monette. BIC placed four players in double figures on senior night, led by Jessica Shepard who scored 16 points. Kasey Garrett and Sammi Fowler scored 14 points apiece while Ashley Tate added 10 more. Katie Olive had eight points, Lauryn Smith tallied five, while Tiffany Parker and Corie Flannigan added two points apiece.
"I was real proud of my seniors," said BIC Coach Stan Fowler. "I am really going to miss them. Katie Olive came on and scored eight points and grabbed seven rebounds. I told her tonight after the game she is making us into a better team. She is adding a lot more depth. Kasey Garrett had 14 points and five steals, Ashley Tate had 10 points and eight boards. The seniors played well. They executed the offense and showed patience. They did a real good job. I was thinking a lot about my seniors tonight. It has been a lot of fun and hopefully there is a lot more season left."
The Lady Mustangs went 9-12 from the foul line and hit three treys.
Jasmaine Lowery led Turrell with 21 points, including five treys, while Jasmine Moore added 14 more for the Lady Rockets, who hit seven three pointers and went 7-15 from the foul line.
BIC led 21-8 after the first quarter and 36-25 at the half. The Lady Mustangs outscored Turrell 20-10 in the third quarter to take a 56-35 lead into the final frame.
In junior high action, BIC fell to Turrell 38-21 as Lanessa Cordoon and Erica Chance scored 20 and 16 points respectively to lead the Lady Rockets to the win.
Rhonda Garrett led BIC with nine points while Jamie Harris added four more. Taylor Owens, Holly Dempsey, Ashley Jines and Anita Holcomb netted two points apiece for the Lady Mustangs.
The two teams were tied 6-6 after the first quarter before Turrell took a 19-11 lead into the dressing room at the half. The Lady Rockets led 28-19 after three quarters.
BIC will return to action next week with a game scheduled at Armorel on Thursday night.
The Junior Lady Mustangs will participate in the Junior High District Tournament at Monette.
