Amon Eugene "Gene" Holt, 75, of the Milligan Ridge community, near Manila, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born at Manila, he was the son of the late Amon and Naoma Hill Holt and was a lifelong resident of Milligan Ridge. He was a member of Milligan Ridge Baptist Church and was a retired farmer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by twin sons, Sonny and Larry Holt, and a grandson, Phillip Mattingly.
Survivors include his wife, Anabeth Davidson Holt of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Faye and Rex Haney of Jonesboro and Rosann and Felton Mattingly of Manila; a sister, Wilma Chapman of Turlock, Calif.; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. today (Tuesday) at Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Rev. Waymon Holt and Rev. Danny Webster officiating. Burial will be in Manila Cemetery.
