Jessie C. Wimp, 75, of Caruthersville, formerly of the Rives Community, died at Caruthersville Nursing Center in Caruthersville, Mo., on Monday, Jan. 8, 2007. Born April 11, 1931, in Holland, Mo., to the late John Thomas Scott and Rosie White Scott, Mrs. Wimp was a lifelong area resident as well as a lifelong member of Oak Grow Church of Christ. She was a homemaker for many years and a retired cook for the Appletree Preschool in Steele, Mo.
Survivors include a son, Jackie Wimp, and wife, Denise, of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; a daughter, Rebecca Bailey, and husband, Gary, of Holland, Mo.; two brothers, Bobby Clifford Scott of Grassy, Mo., and James Monroe Scott of St. Louis, Mo., and four grandchildren, Amanda Garrett Bailey of Jonesboro, Kelsey Ann Bailey of Holland, Nicholas Allen Wimp of Cape Girardeau, and Josh Bailey of Gosnell.
Mrs. Wimp was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Abe Wimp; three brothers, Jake Scott, Wendy Scott, and Homer Scott; two sisters, Ruby Thompson and Lessie Erwin.
The funeral was held Thursday at the Samford Church of Christ near Holland with Mr. Tim Howard officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele, Mo., with Faith Funeral Service of Manila in charge of arrangements.
