Leachville

Eloise Bernice Pierce, 78, of Leachville, widow of Robert Pierce, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born at New Survey, Mo., she was the daughter of the late William and Lettie Belle McGregor Turner. She was a 1947 graduate of Steele High School in Steele, Mo., and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in 1980. She was a homemaker and had worked as an accountant and bank teller. She had been a Leachville resident since 1962 and was a member of the Nettleton Church of Christ in Jonesboro.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Anthony Woodward, and a brother, Hoytt Turner.

She is survived by two daughters, Beth Pool and her husband, Jim, of Sherwood, and Gale Pierce of Leachville; two grandchildren, Lauren Pool and Nichole Pool, both of Sherwood.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Howard Funeral Chapel in Leachville with Jimmy Young officiating. Burial was in the Leachville Cemetery.

Serving as active pallbearers were Jim Pool, Chris Pierce, Dr. Tom Pierce, Johnny Hawkins, Ron Dent, Dan Ritchey and Randy Nelms.

Honorary pallbearers were Joe Wheeler, Bud Shelby, Ralph Wells, William Olive, C.W. Bassing, and Jack Pierce.
