Edward "Bud" Sparks, 74, of Manila, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2006, at the Manila Nursing Center. Born at Caraway he was the son of the late Armour and Opal Tanner Sparks. He was a retired farmer and of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Billie Little Sparks, his second wife, Carolyn Harrell Sparks, a son, Michael Sparks, and a sister.

Survivors include a son, Rick Sparks of Manila; a daughter, Sandra Sparks, of Manila; a step-daughter, Samantha Mullins of Paragould; four grandchildren, Angie Gipson, Jennifer Jackson, Shonda Sparks and Wesley Mullins, and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Rev. Waymon Holt and Rev. James Chipman officiating. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery.
