Rebels netters improve to 7-1 on the season

Riverside boys pitched two shutouts last week as the Rebels improved to 7-1 in senior high tennis action. The Rebels knocked off Weiner 4-0 on Tuesday afternoon and then came back to blank Trumann 5-0 Thursday afternoon at Lake City.

Riverside girls came away with a 2-2 tie against the Lady Cardinals before dropping a 3-1 decision to the Lady Wildcats.

In boys singles action, Riverside's Jordan Adcock claimed a 6-1 decision over Weiner's Daniel Chatman. Cody Richardson gave the Rebels a victory at number two singles by also defeating Chatman, 6-1. In doubles play, Garrett Weaver and Casey Hook took care of the Cardinal duo of Alex Brooks and Wesley Dunham, 6-1. Rebels Nick Bagley and Blake Barnes downed the Weiner tandem of Brooks and Dunham, 6-1.

In girls action, Weiner's Andrea Davis defeated Riverside's Katey Campbell, 6-2. Rebel Christy Ward beat Lady Cardinal Mallory Jordan, 6-2. In doubles play, the Lady Rebel team of Morgan Emery and Holly Dudley upended Weiner's Jordan and Kenzie Bartholomew, 6-4. Weiner evened things up when the team of Sierra Cole and Brytne McIlwain outlasted Lady Rebels Kailey Holt and Sarah Hass, 7-6.

In the Riverside-Trumann match, Rebel Cody Richardson defeated Trumann's Jacque Tyler, 6-0. Blake Barnes defeated Tyler, 6-1, while Riverside's Cliff Kramer downed Wildcat Tejaye Moye, 6-3. In boys doubles action, Rebels Jordan Adcock and Glen Graham downed Moye and Dustin Jones, 6-1. Riverside's Casey Hook teamed with Garrett Weaver to hand Jones and Moye a 7-5 defeat to wrap up the shutout.

In girls play, Trumann swept the singles action as Sylvia Creosteau defeated Holly Dudley, 7-5, while Samantha Goans downed Christy Ward, 6-0. In doubles play, the Lady Rebels picked up their only point when the team of Katey Campbell and Morgan Emery dropped the Trumann combo of Daria Seay and Morgan McKenzie, 6-2. Truman clenched the victory when Bailey Ballard and Amanda Tippitt defeated Lady Rebels Kailey Holt and Sarah Hass, 6-2.

Riverside will return to action Monday when they host arch-rival East Poinsett County in a 4:00 grudge match at Lake City. Riverside will close out the week on Thursday by hosting Walnut Ridge in a 4:00 conference match.
