Gene Carter, 80, of West Ridge, died Saturday, June 10, 2006, in Osceola. Born Jan. 28, 1926, in Milligan Ridge to John William and Susie Moss Carter, he was a member of the Etowah Church of God.
He is survived by his wife, Lucy "Deke" Carter of Etowah; two sons, Kenneth Carter of Dyess and Tommy Carter of West Ridge; three daughters, Carolyn Wilson and Kathy May, both of Etowah, and Debbie Lancaster of Manila; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and a brother, Carl Carter, of Manila.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, six brothers and a sister.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Etowah Church of God with Brother Huey Meherg officiating. Burial was in Garden Point Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Swift Funeral Home of Osceola.
