Iva Lee Hutchins died in Chico, Calif., on Sunday, May 14, 2006, at the age of 86. Born Jan. 17, 1920, at Monette, she was the eighth child of William Auddie and Lizzie Lou Stewart of Macey. She married Thomas Clay Hutchins in 1941 and they farmed in Monette and Nettleton until 1948, when they moved to St. Louis with their two daughters, Tommye and Francine. After her husband's death in 1959, she studied nursing and worked as a surgical nurse until her retirement in 1985. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Garden Club.

In 2003, Mrs. Hutchins moved to Fort Wayne, Ind., to live with her daughter, Tommye. In December, 2005, she went to Chico for a winter visit with daughter Francine but fell ill, was hospitalized and died there in a nursing facility.

She was preceded in death by her husband, T.C., six brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by a sister, Beulah Cannon of Monette; daughter, Tommye, and son-in-law, Otis Still; daughter, Francine, and son-in-law, Alan Gair; grandchildren, Kari Gabriel, Douglas Still and Alexander Gair; and four great-grandchildren.

Her extended family includes three step-grandchildren, nine step-great-grandchildren, five step-great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church at Monette. Burial was in Macey Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.
