Darrell Wayne Griffin, 59, of Manila, died Sunday, May 21, 2006, at his home. Born at Blytheville, he was the son of the late Edward and Cora Miller Griffin and had lived most of his life in Manila. Mr. Griffin lived in Blytheville for 23 years where he was a former chemical plant operator. He was a member of the Manila First Baptist Church, an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of American Legion Post 197. He was a 1964 graduate of Manila High School and a 1969 graduate of Arkansas State University.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Meacham griffin of the home; two sons, Derrick Griffin and his wife, Cassie, of Jonesboro, and John ed Griffin of Manila; and a grandson, Jackson Roe Griffin, of Jonesboro; and a sister, Margaret Caery of Manila.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with pastor, Rev. Ferrel Duffel and Joey Smithson officiating. Burial will follow in the Manila Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Manila. Manila High School Class of 1964 will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive visitors from 6-8:30 p.m. this evening (Tuesday) at Howard Funeral Home in Manila.
