Riverside's Lady Rebels earned the Region 4 Tournament's third seed with a 10-4 victory over Marked Tree Monday afternoon at Bay.
Riverside played three games on the day, eliminating East Poinsett County 14-4 Monday morning before dropping a heartbreaking 5-4 nine inning loss to Cross County in the semi-finals. The Lady Rebels built a 4-0 lead over the Lady Thunderbirds, sparked by Kailey Holt's base clearing double. Holt finished the day 6-12 to lead the Rebel offensive attack.
"This was the best we have played all year," said Rebel Coach T.J. Eakins. "We had a 4-2 lead late against Cross County, and just needed a few breaks to put that game away. Cross County tied the score, and we kept battling, but we never got over the hump after that. I am very proud of the girls and excited about playing in this week's regional tournament."
Riverside will open Region 4 Tournament play Monday afternoon at 5:00 against the host team, Rector, the number two seed from the 3AA North Conference.
