Buffalo Island Central battled all the way back from an 11-1 deficit only to see Marmaduke come up with the game winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Greyhounds knocked off the Mustangs 12-11 to advance to the championship game of the 3AA North District Tournament Saturday at Walnut Ridge.
Kyle Huckabay drove home the winning run with an RBI single as the Greyhounds improved to 17-5 on the season and defeated the Mustangs for the third straight time. Both teams are headed to next week's Regional Tournament which will be held at Monette.
Jordan Phillips led the Mustangs, banging out four hits, including a grand slam home run in the fifth inning.
The Mustangs split a pair of games earlier in the week, defeating Brookland 6-4 Tuesday afternoon after dropping a 12-8 decision Monday at Walnut Ridge.
Chad Williams pitched the Mustangs past the Bearcats to improve to 3-2 on the season. Williams fanned eight while scattering seven hits and surrendering two earned runs. Derek Rolland paced BIC with three hits while stealing four bases and scoring two runs.
In Monday's loss at Walnut Ridge, Chad Williams led BIC, going 2-3 while Jimmy Nance went 2-4 and drove in a pair of runs. Derek Rolland picked up the loss, allowing eight runs and seven hits.
BIC is now 14-7 on the season.
