Manila used some timely hitting and a strong pitching effort from Chad Nunnally to pick up a 6-1 victory Monday afternoon over Osceola in 3AAA South Conference high school baseball action at Manila.
Nunnally went the distance to pick up the victory for the Lions to improve his record to 7-2 on the season. The righthander fanned eight Seminoles while scattering five hits.
P.J. Brumley swiped four bases and went 2-2 at the plate while B.J. Stone had a two-run single and stole a pair of bases to pace Manila offensively.
Manila traveled to Osceola Tuesday afternoon and came away with a forfeit victory when the Seminoles inadvertently used their pitcher one inning more than the alloted eight innings.
Manila dropped a 15-8 decision Thursday afternoon to Armorel and also lost a close 3-2 contest against Rector on Friday.
The Lions are now 13-11 overall and 6-3 in 3AAA South action.
Manila will travel to Blytheville Monday afternoon for a non-conference game. District Tournament play will begin Saturday morning at Harrisburg. Manila's opponent has not been determined yet.
