Manila girls, boys bow out in 3AAA South District Tournament

Michelle Daniel pumped in 19 points to lead three Manila players in double figures as the Lady Lions opened the 3AAA South District Tournament rolling by Marianna 59-42 Tuesday night at Harrisburg.

Rachel Cheadle scored 13 points while Katie Veach added 12 more as the Lady Lions secured a spot in the semi-finals against top seeded Rivercrest.

Manila bolted to a 14-7 first period lead and held a 29-17 advantage at the half. The Lady Lions broke the game open in the third quarter and held a 50-32 lead heading into the final frame.

Roccio Bedolla added eight points while Kari Ramirez, Colleen Kemp and Rebekah White netted two points apiece. Kelce Misner chipped in one point to round out the Lady Lion attack.

Nikki Willis led Marianna with 17 points.

The Lady Lions saw their tournament run end Thursday night as they dropped a 63-27 decision to the top seeded Lady Colts.

Samantha Smith poured in 19 points to lead the Rivercrest attack while Hannah Lark scored 16 and Chantelle Russell chipped in 14 more for the Lady Colts.

Rachel Cheadle and Michelle Daniel led Manila with eight points apiece. Roccio Bedolla scored six while Katie Veach and Kari Ramirez added two points apiece. Freshman Colleen Kemp rounded out the Manila scoring with one point.

Rivercrest held an 18-11 first period lead and increased their advantage to 32-15 at the half. The Lady Colts blew the game open by outscoring Manila 27-6 in the third quarter to open up a 59-21 lead heading into the final frame.

Kyle Misner pumped in 17 points while Chase Shelton added 13 more but it wasn't enough as Gosnell ended Manila's season with a 57-41 victory Monday night in the opening round of the Boys 3AAA South Tournament in Harrisburg.

Danny Spicer scored 14 points while Kyle Raspberry chipped in 10 to lead the Pirate attack.

Manila held a slim 15-14 lead after the first quarter before watching the Pirates rally for a 27-23 halftime advantage. The Pirates continued to build their lead in the third quarter and finished with a 41-30 margin heading into the final frame.
