Manila junior boys see season end While Lady Lions march on
Manila Junior Lady Lions continued their season with an easy 70-26 win over Marianna while the Manila boys saw their season come to an end when Rivercrest knocked off the Junior Lions 51-29 in first round action of the 3AAA South Junior District Tournament last week at Manila.
Kimberly Wise poured in 18 points as the Lady Lions put nine players in the scoring column in the victory over Marianna. Colleen Kemp and Rebekah White also hit double digits with 14 and 10 points respectively. Kelce Misner and Savannah Jones scored eight points each while Jonna Dodd and Katie Donner tallied four points apiece. Kristen Painter and Meagan Presson tacked on two points apiece.
Marianna placed one player in double figures as Renyada Turner scored 18 points.
The Lady Lions outscored Marianna 23-9 in the first quarter and built their lead to 45-16 at intermission. Manila led by 44 going into the final frame, 64-20.
Terence Gordon poured in a game high 15 points as Rivercrest ended Manila's season Monday night with a 51-29 victory.
The Colts raced to a 14-7 first quarter lead and stretched their margin to 10 points, 26-16, at the half. Rivercrest outscored the Lions 9-7 in the third quarter to take a 35-23 lead into the final frame.
Blake Wheeler led the Lions with 14 points while Jonathan Rose tacked on eight. Jacob Perez netted three points while Kyle Evans and Luke McLaughlin added two points each.
