Buffalo Island Central placed three players in double figures as the Lady Mustangs raced past Armorel 58-36 in senior girls basketball action Thursday night.

Jessica Shepard and Kasey Garrett pumped in 13 points apiece while Nan Lee Bridges added 11 more, sending the Lady Mustangs to their 28th win of the season against six defeats. Ashley Tate scored seven points, Amber Smithee tallied six, Jordan Miller netted four while Lauryn Smith and Teela Swaims added two points apiece. BIC finished 13-19 from the free throw line and hit three treys on the night.

Brittany Brooks led Armorel with 13 points. The Lady Tigers hit 4-8 foul shots and made four three pointers.

The Lady Mustangs jumped to a 15-4 first quarter lead and led 30-10 at the half. BIC doubled the Lady Tigers in scoring 42-21 after three quarters.

"We are playing some of our best basketball of the year right now," said BIC Head Coach Mike Kinard. "This is the best time to be playing your best ball. We have experience going into the District Tournament, and we think we have a very good chance to win the tournament. We are healthy now and it is good to get Katie Olive, who has been nursing a knee injury, back."

BIC will enter the Senior High District Tournament at Marmaduke as the number one seed and will play a 6:00 p.m. game Wednesday night. The Lady Mustangs will face the winner of a game to be played between fourth seeded Riverside and the winner of the Walnut Ridge-Bay game. BIC, the regular season conference champion, has already qualified for next week's Regional Tournament to be held at Earle.
