Riverside picks up a pair of victories
Riverside picked up a pair of victories last week as the Lady Rebels knocked off a pair of 3AA North Conference foes. The Lady Rebels eased past Bay 56-53 Monday night and then pulled out a 47-44 squeaker Thursday night at Walnut Ridge.
Marisa Johnson poured in 19 points and Kasey Davis added 12 to lead the Rebels over Bay. Emilee Hook scored eight, Sam Dunigan and Kelsey Turner had six points each, while Natasha Coffey netted five. Riverside hit 18-33 free throws and nailed four treys on the night.
Bay was led by Sam Carter and Meghon Mink who scored 13 points apiece. Jera Ferguson pitched in 11 points for the Jackets who hit 8-13 from the free throw line. Bay finished with five treys on the night.
Bay had a 17-15 first quarter lead before Riverside rallied for a 33-29 advantage at the half. The Lady Rebels took a 42-39 lead into the final frame.
In the Rebel's victory over Walnut Ridge, Sam Dunigan led the way for Riverside with 22 points. Marisa Johnson also hit double digits with 13 points. Kelsey Turner had four points, Natasha Coffey and Emma Wilson tallied three, while Audrey Booth pitched in two. Riverside went 12-17 from the charity stripe and hit three treys.
Rachel Looney scored 15 points while Vanessa Oliver added 11 to pace the Bobcats, who were 8-11 from the free throw line.
Riverside led 14-9 after the first quarter and 25-16 at the break. The Rebels carried a 35-26 lead into the final frame.
In junior girls action, Riverside rolled to a pair of victories, dumping Bay 40-26 before disposing of Walnut Ridge 34-22.
Katey Campbell led the Rebel charge against Bay with 14 points. Brianna Driver had seven, Morgan Emery scored five, Kailey Holt and Michelle Cobb netted four points each while Holly Dudley, Katlin Brewer and Christy Ward added two points each.
Morgan Barnes and Laci Staton scored 10 and nine points respectively to pace the Lady Jackets.
Brianna Driver and Katey Campbell led the Rebels over Walnut Ridge by scoring 13 points apiece. Morgan Emery added six, while Holly Dudley chipped in two.
Amber Caldwell led Walnut Ridge with seven points.
In the seventh grade action, Taylor Boness pumped in 14 points as Riverside defeated Bay 29-21. Beth Anne Snyder tallied six, Kendra Staggs scored four, Kyley Campbell netted three while Abby Gamble chipped in two.
Kyley Campbell scored 11 points as Riverside downed Walnut Ridge 31-17. Taylor Boness had eight points, Kendra Staggs and Beth Anne Snyder chipped in four points apiece while Abby Gamble and Brittany Douglas added two points apiece.
