Manila runs past Marianna in senior girls action
Manila placed three players in double figures as the Lady Lions blew past Marianna 68-40 Thursday night in 3AAA South conference action at Marianna.
Rachel Cheadle poured in 19 points, Michelle Daniel pumped in 18 while Katie Veach tacked on 10 more to pace the Lady Lion attack.
Manila jumped to a 27-10 first quarter lead and held a 49-20 advantage at the half. The Lady Lions stretched their lead to 63-28 after three quarters.
Kari Ramirez had seven points, Roccio Bedolla and Heather Dozhier tallied five points apiece while Amy Browning and Myra Ernest chipped in two each to round out the Lady Lion attack.
Marianna was led by Ann Westbrook who scored 14 points.
The Lady Lions started the week when they traveled to Rivercrest but came up on the short end, losing 65-39 to the Lady Colts.
Hannah Lark and Chantelle Russell scored 16 points apiece to pace Rivercrest. The Lady Colts placed two other players in double figures as Samantha Smith and Jasmine Winda scored 11 and 10 points respectively.

Rivercrest jumped to a 28-14 first quarter lead and led 42-28 at the half. The Lady Colts stretched their lead to 58-31 entering the final quarter.
In junior high action, the Lady Lions picked up a pair of victories. Manila crushed Rivercrest 57-9 on Monday night and followed up with a 60-25 demolishing of Marianna Thursday night.
In the victory over Rivercrest, Manila was paced by Colleen Kemp who scored a game high 18 points. Kelce Misner scored nine points, Kimberly Wise and Savannah Jones tallied eight points apiece, Rebekah White netted six, Megan Presson chipped in four, while Kristen Painter and Katie Donner contributed two points each.
Manila raced to a 19-3 first period advantage and held a commanding 32-6 lead at the half. The Lady Lions entered the fourth quarter ahead 52-9 and then shut out Rivercrest the rest of the way to gain the win.

Manila will return to action Monday night as they host Marked Tree in a non-conference match-up. The Lady Lions return to 3AAA South action Thursday as they play host to Trumann.
