Nan Lee Bridges and Ashley Tate combined for 29 points as the Buffalo Island Central Lady Mustangs held off Walnut Ridge 46-37 Monday night in 3AA North Conference action. The Lady Mustangs, playing without star guard Jessica Shepard, who sat out the game due to an injured hamstring, jumped to a 10-7 first quarter lead and held a 21-14 advantage at the half. The game remained close in the second half with BIC holding a 33-27 lead after three quarters.
Bridges led BIC with 15 points while Tate pitched in 14 more to lead the Lady Mustangs. Stephanie Baldridge contributed eight points, Haley Smith scored six, Lauryn Smith netted two, while Katie Olive added one point to round out the BIC offensive attack. BIC finished 11-16 from the foul line and hit three treys, two by Baldridge.
In junior high action, Walnut Ridge rolled to a 51-11 win over the Lady Mustangs.
Corie Flannigan paced BIC with six points, Ashley Woods and Holly Dempsey scored two points apiece while Brittani Wilson tallied one.
