Buffalo Island Central rolled to a pair of 3AA North Conference victories last week as they stampeded Piggott 66-36 Tuesday night at Monette and then trampled Walnut Ridge 84-52 Friday night at Leachville.
Brooks Taylor pumped in 30 points as the Mustangs routed the Mohawks. BIC jumped to a commanding 25-6 first period lead and led 33-19 at the half. BIC went on top 52-29 after three quarters before finishing off the Mohawks in the final frame.
The Mustangs nailed 10 three pointers on the night, including four by Taylor. Hunter Smith and Derek Rolland aided the Mustang attack with eight points each. Kalyn Hoggard led Piggott with 14 points.
Taylor scorched Walnut Ridge for 33 points in the BIC 32 point victory over the Bobcats. BIC held a 22-12 first quarter lead and found themselves up 40-31 at the half. The Mustangs doubled their lead by the end of the third quarter, going up 62-44 entering the final frame.
Derek Rolland scored eight points, Cord Rose had seven, Hunter Smith, Trevor Matheny, and Lance Davis netted six points apiece, Jordan Phillips and Jordan Griggs tallied four points each, while Garrett Qualls and Shane Barnes added three points apiece. Eric Wallace and Terry Roach rounded out the Mustang attack with two points apiece.
The Mustangs finished 7-11 from the foul line and hit a whopping 13 three pointers on the night.
Walnut Ridge was led by Seth Chamblee who scored 22 points while Chris Logan added 12. The Bobcats were 8-15 from the foul stripe and failed to hit a trey.
In junior high action, Piggott defeated BIC 53-36. The Mustangs came back Friday night to defeat Walnut Ridge 45-33.
Cody Smith paced the Mustangs with 20 points while Steven Greathouse added 10. Tab Wildy scored eight points, while Brandon Atkeison , Heath Hawkins, and Zach Corter had two points apiece. Ricky Cordero added one point. BIC was 5-9 from the foul line and hit four three pointers. The Mustangs trailed 10-9 after the first quarter before coming back to take a 20-14 halftime lead. BIC entered the final quarter leading 34-29.
Wesley Davis led Walnut Ridge with 13 points while Brandon Dawson added 10. The Bobcats finished 4-7 from the free throw line and hit three treys on the night.
