Jimmie Lee Jones, 74, of Monette, died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006, at his residence. Born and raised in Monette, he lived his working years in several different areas before returning to Monette after retiring as a meat cutter. He was a member of Monette First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Lavonda Lee Jones of the home; step-son, Michael Chitmon of Blytheville; three sisters, Robbie Shaver of Jonesboro, Delean Alexander of Joiner, and Doris Lee of Midland, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Donnie May Webb Jones; two sons, Jimmie Lee Jones, Jr. and Michael Jones; two daughters, Donna Kay Stewart and Brenda Metz; his parents, Berry Robert and Susan Rodgers Jones; and a brother, Robert Preston Jones.
Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at Monette Cemetery with Rev. Bruce Higgins officiating.
Active pallbearers were Paul Baker, Sonny Wimberly, Gene Gathright, John Helms, Jerry Reed and Chub Qualls. Honorary pallbearers were Lloyd Bibb, Bill Fleetwood and Jodie Brown.
Arrangements were under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.
