The Mustangs previously had lost games to Riverside and Hughes, but, after a slow start, breezed past the Cougars.
Rector hit a couple of early three-pointers on its way to an 8-4 lead, but the Mustangs rolled off 15 straight points to take a 19-8 margin and the outcome was never in doubt after that. Two treys by Hunter Smith and a trey and a conventional three-point play by Cord Rose were keys to the BIC run.
Rector closed the gap a bit to 19-11 before Derek Rolland hit a basket to give the Mustangs a 21-11 lead after one period.
BIC completely blew the game open in the second quarter, going on a 24-2 blitz that pushed the margin to 45-13. Rolland hit a three-pointer in the stretch, along with two treys by Brooks Taylor, who returned to action after sitting out the Hughes game. The Mustangs had 10 three-pointers in the game, seven in the first half.
The Mustangs posted a 49-21 lead at halftime, stretched it to 69-30 after three and coasted to the win, their 19th of the season against three losses.
"We got off to a slow start, but overall we played extremely well coming off a two-game losing streak," BIC coach Bill Taylor said after the game.
"Defensively, we were pretty solid. Overall, I give them a B-plus. We showed very good ball distribution in this game and I would give them an A-plus in that area. We moved the ball around well all night."
Taylor led Mustang scoring with 20, 16 in the first half. Also in double figures were Rolland and Smith with 15 each. Other scorers were Rose 6, Garrett Qualls 6, Eric Wallace 5, Lance Davis 4, Lee Birdno 3, Trevor Matheny 2 and Jordan Phillips 2. BIC hit 12 of 18 free throws in the game.
Rector was paced by Jase Speer with 12. The Cougars were 9-17 at the line.
BIC won the junior game, 48-29, after leading 23-13 at intermission.
The Junior Mustangs had three players in double figures -- Tab Wildy 13, Heath Hawkins 10 and Steven Greathouse 10. Also scoring were Cody Smith 6, Zack Carter 3, Rickey Cordero 2, Brandon Atkinson 2 and Dalton Womack 2. Dalton Shaw led Rector with 10.
The Mustangs were scheduled to host Piggott at Leachville on Tuesday night and then Walnut Ridge at Leachville on Friday and Riverside in a makeup game at Monette on Saturday.
