Corning raced to a 20-2 first quarter lead en route to a 49-28 victory over Riverside in the junior high division of the Gerald Jennings Holiday Tournament Tuesday night at Caraway.
Zach Brown scored a game high 13 points to lead the Bobcats. Corning led 26-12 at the half and stretched their lead to 37-19 after three quarters.
The Rebels were their own worst enemy, as they shot a paltry 9-29 from the free throw line. Cody O(Guinn and Sam Elam led the Rebels with eight points apiece. Elam also snared five rebounds. Tyler Warhurst scored four points while Daniel McCormick, Josh Driver, and Cameron Casey netted two points apiece. Nick Bagley and Shaun Boatman added one point each.
The Junior Rebels will return to action Tuesday night at Caraway in a 3AA North Conference match-up with Piggott.
