Riverside rode the hot outside shooting of sophomore Kasey Davis as the Lady Rebels kept Brookland winless with a 53-38 victory over the Lady Bearcats Monday night at Brookland.
Davis banged home four three pointers on the night on the way to an 18 point performance to lead the Rebels to their 11th victory against three losses. Senior post player Emilee Hook contributed 12 points and nine rebounds while junior guard Natasha Coffey pitched in 11 points. Senior Sam Dunigan had eight points and 10 boards while Marisa Johnson tossed in four points. The Lady Rebels were 8-12 from the foul line and hit five three pointers on the night.
Brookland, who fell to 0-12 on the season, was led by Michelle Wiseman who had 11 points. The Lady Bearcats finished 7-15 from the charity stripe and hit one trey.
Riverside led 14-7 after the first quarter and then opened up a 28-19 halftime lead. The Rebels increased their lead to 37-26 entering the final quarter.
In junior high action, Riverside rolled to a 53-26 win as Briana Driver poured in a game high 20 points. Morgan Emery also hit double figures for the Lady Rebels scoring 10 points. Katey Campbell had eight, Kailey Holt and Christy Ward scored six apiece while Holly Dudley added three points. Riverside finished 10-16 from the foul line and hit one three pointer.
Brookland was led by Erica Simpson who scored 14 points.
Riverside led 18-6 after the first quarter and increased their lead to 30-12 at the half. The Lady Rebels blew the game open in the third quarter leading 44-22 entering the final frame.
Riverside will return to action Monday night when they host Walnut Ridge in a 3AA North match-up at Lake City. The Lady Rebels will then travel to Lepanto to face the Lady Warriors of East Poinsett County in a non-conference game.
