Buffalo Island Central's Lady Mustangs remained unbeaten as they posted two victories last week in senior girls basketball action. BIC began the week with a 58-31 whipping of Bay in 3AA North Conference action at the Monette Athletic Complex. The Lady Mustangs then rallied to beat Valley View 55-48 Thursday night at the MAC.
Jessica Shepard led three Lady Mustangs in double figures as the sophomore scored 15 points in the victory over the Lady Yellowjackets. Nan Lee Bridges pitched in 13 points while Kasey Garrett added 10 points. Chelsea Nix scored seven, Ashley Tate had six, Katie Olive netted three while Haley Smith and Lauryn Smith added two points each.
BIC jumped to a 20-13 first quarter lead, stretched the margin to 35-21 at the half, and blew the game open in the third quarter to take a 57-25 lead entering the final frame. The victory pushed BIC's conference record to 2-0 on the season.
Sam Carter led Bay (1-4, 0-1 3AA North) with eight points.
BIC rallied from a 28-27 halftime deficit to run past Valley View Thursday night as they posted their eighth straight victory of the season. Jessica Shepard led the Lady Mustangs with 17 points. Senior Nan Lee Bridges scored 14 points while Ashley Tate hit double figures with 11 points. Lauryn Smith added seven, Kasey Garrett netted five while Katie Olive pitched in one point. BIC finished 18-27 from the free throw line and hit one three pointer on the night.
Valley View was led by Heather Isbell who scored 15 points while Skyla Talley added 14 points. Valley View finished 7-19 from the foul line and failed to make a trey.
In junior high action, Bay rolled to a 52-20 win over the Junior Mustangs. Lacy Staten led Bay with a game high 20 points while Morgan Barnes scored 12 and Jordan Ferguson added 11.
BIC was led by Jordan Miller who scored 10 points. Harley Damron had four points while Shelby Qualls, Whitlee Rolland, and Jenny Walker all provided two points apiece.
In Thursday night's game, BIC fell to Valley View 38-8.
Amy Philamee led the Junior Lady Blazers with 18 points.
Ashley Jines led BIC with four points while Shelby Qualls and Jordan Miller scored two points apiece.
BIC will return to action Monday night as they travel to Piggott for a crucial 3AA North Conference match-up against the Lady Mohawks. BIC will look to avenge last season's loss in the Regional semi-finals against Piggott.
