Jessica Shepard scored 25 points and Nan Lee Bridges added 17 as Buffalo Island Central's Lady Mustangs remained undefeated with a hard fought 58-53 3AA North Conference victory Thursday night at the Monette Athletic Complex.
BIC led 11-9 after the first quarter and 28-24 at the half before watching the Lady Greyhounds take a 45-43 lead into the final quarter. BIC outscored Marmaduke 15-8 in the final period to pull out the win.
Lauryn Smith scored seven points, Ashley Tate had six, while Kasey Garrett added three to round out the Mustang attack. BIC was 23-33 from the free throw line and hit three treys on the night.
Marmaduke was led by Brooke Smith, Lindsey Hickson and Amber Haynes, who all scored 11 points each. Marmaduke was 13-20 from the line and hit eight three pointers on the night.
BIC improved to 6-0 overall and 1-0 in league play while Marmaduke fell to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in conference action.
In the junior high game, Marmaduke rolled to a 58-31 victory. Jordan Miller scored 10 points to pace the Lady Mustangs while Nicole Poe added seven. Harley Damron and Corie Flannigan scored three points each while Brittani Wilson and Ashley Jines netted two points apiece. Teela Swaims and Taylor Owens scored one point each to round out the Lady Mustang attack.
BIC will return to 3 AA North Conference action Monday night as they host Bay at the Monette Athletic Complex. The Mustangs will also play host to Valley View Thursday night in a non-conference tilt.
