Riverside Junior Lady Rebels traveled to Marmaduke Saturday morning and came home with a split, defeating the host Lady Greyhounds 46-38 before dropping a 36-33 decision to Maynard.
In the victory over Marmaduke, Riverside was led by Katey Campbell with 14 points while Kailey Holt added 13. Katlin Brewer pitched in seven, Anne Marie Johnson scored five, Brianna Driver had four and Michelle Cobb tallied two to round out the Rebel attack. Marmaduke was led by Kelsey Raegans with 15 points and Kelsey Drope who had 14 points.
Against Maynard, Riverside was led by Morgan Emery with eight points. Brianna Driver scored seven, Katey Campbell and Holly Dudley had six, Katlin Brewer added four, and Michelle Cobb pitched in two for the Lady Rebels. Maynard's Courtney Simmon led all scorers with 17.
"We seemed to be stuck in slow gear against Marmaduke," said Riverside Coach Greg Rainwater. "But I was proud of my kids for battling through and finding a way to win. We didn't have Morgan Emery, but we found a way to win. In the Maynard game, we started slow, and slowed down after that. We had too many unforced errors and not enough rebounding. Maynard handled our press way too easily, and we struggled to get any kind of consistency."
