Manila falls to BIC in Junior Invitational

The Manila Junior Lions defeated the Bay Yellowjackets 49-44 in the first round of the Marmaduke Invitational Tournament Monday night at Marmaduke.

The Junior Lions were led by Jacob Perez who had a team high 18 points. Kyle Evans scored 11 points while Luke McLaughlin added nine. Johnathon Rose netted five, Michael Shedd had four, while Blake Wheeler added two.The Lions hit 16-21 from the free throw line and hit one trey.

Bay was led by Wade Hamilton's game high 20 points, while Troy Brown added 14. The Jackets were 13-19 from the line and hit one three pointer.

Manila led 12-8 after the first period, 24-19 at the half, and 33-28 after three quarters.

Manila dropped a 41-24 decision to BIC in Thursday night's semi-finals at Marmaduke.

McLaughlin led the Lions with nine points, Perez scored four, Rose had three, while Evans, Shedd, Cody Edgin and Cody Webb all scored two apiece.

BIC was led by Steven Greathouse and Cody Smith who scored 14 points apiece for the Mustangs. Zach Corter added five points, Heath Hawkins scored four, while Ricky Cordero and Ben Cole netted two points each.

BIC led 10-6 after the first quarter, 18-10 at the half, and 29-20 entering the final period.
