Rep. Kidd presents $18,100 to Lake City Museum

During the Lake City council meeting Oct. 17, Mayor Jerry Bowman accepted an $18,100 check from State Representative Ray Kidd for use at the Lake City Museum. The museum is currently in need of a new roof and decking.

The council also approved a $350 year-end bonus for all full-time employees, a 4 percent increase for Mayor Bowman and City Clerk Diane Crews, hourly increases for other municipal employees, and defeated a proposal to cap council pay at $1,200 annually.

Aldermen amended the former city policy and will no longer allow contractors to use the city's name on projects or charge work to city accounts.

Other business included:

*Passing a Lawrence County resolution allowing for a feasibility study pertaining to potentially building a regional airport at Walnut Ridge.

*Appointed Jason Cunningham to the city's volunteer fire departments.

*Decided to explore placing more permanent markers on graves in the city cemetery in place of some temporary markers currently used.
