Rebel Netters win two of three matches
The Riverside Rebels remained unbeaten in conference play with a hard fought 5-4 win over Crowley's Ridge Academy in boys tennis action Thursday afternoon at Allen Park in Jonesboro.
The Rebels (10-2, 7-0) clinched the victory by winning two of the three doubles matches. The Riverside duo of Tyler Timms and Jordan Adcock won a heart stopping 7-6 (13-11) marathon over CRA's Jonathan Huggins and Jeremy Cohen. Timms and Adcock had 10 match points before finally pulling out the win against the resilient Falcon duo.
CRA came back to take the number two doubles match as Aaron Hudson and Jeremy Smith outlasted Riverside's M.J. Emery and Cody Richardson, 6-4. In the deciding number three doubles match, the Rebels came out on top as Glen Graham and Garrett Weaver rolled over CRA's Tyler Killough and Kyle Rowe, 6-1.
In singles play, the two teams split as the Falcons won the first three matches before Riverside came back to gain victories at numbers four, five and six singles. Hard hitting Aaron Hudson handed Riverside's Tyler Timms a 6-2 setback in number one singles. Jeremy Cohen of CRA shut out Rebel Cliff Kramer 6-0 in number two singles while Falcon Jonathan Huggins outlasted Riverside's Jordan Adcock at number three singles, 6-4.
The Rebels rallied, however, when Cody Richardson blanked Jeremy Smith 6-0 in number four singles. Garrett Weaver beat Kyle Rowe 6-2 in number five singles before Randy Kramer completed the comeback with a 6-2 victory over Tyler Killough.
In girls action, Riverside blitzed the Lady Falcons 5-1. The Lady Rebels took three of the four singles matches as Magan Adams defeated Melissa Sellars, 6-4, Kailey Holt downed Lauren Hill, 6-2, and Emilee Hook beat Meghan McPherson, 6-3. The Falcons salvaged one match with a hard fought 6-4 win by Hannah Stidman over Riverside's Morgan Emery.
The Lady Rebels swept the doubles matches as Emery and Holt downed the Falcon duo of Stidman and McPherson, 6-1, while Adams and Dudley posted a 6-2 win over Sellars and Hill. With the win, the Lady Rebels improved to 3-9 overall and 2-5 in conference play.
Riverside started the week traveling to Weiner with the boys coming away with a 6-0 whitewash of the Cardinals while the girls posted their second win of the season with a 3-1 victory over the Lady Birds.
Riverside traveled to Lepanto Tuesday afternoon with both teams dropping matches. The undefeated Warrior boys team hammered out a 7-1 win over Riverside while the Lady Warriors shut out the Lady Rebels 6-0.

Riverside will return to action this week with three home matches at Lake City. The Rebels will face Trumann on Monday at 4:00. Riverside will take on CRA in a crucial conference contest Tuesday at 3:30 and then will battle Walnut Ridge in another conference match-up scheduled for 4:00 on Wednesday.
