Manila Mayor Clifford Veach expressed his appreciation to Entergy for their assistance in helping to fund the project.
Plans to resurface the base area and retaining wall to help make the playground equipment area safer for the children were in the works. New playground equipment will be added to the play area.
"We are proud of our park," Veach said. "We have three pavilions with adequate tables, three ball fields, a tennis court, two basketball courts and a sand volley ball court. I encourage people to use the park."
In addition to the improvements at the playground area, the city has plans to resurface the walking trail and the tennis court this year.
The new metal picnic tables are very sturdy and were made by the Manila High School Future Farmers of America.
